40th Anniversary Spring Recital

Theater Rehearsal Procedure
(Leotard Rehearsal – NOT in Costume!)

Friday, May 29th
Sandler Center for the Performing Arts
Rehearsal Blocks: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Dress rehearsal is a mandatory step for all Level 1 and up recital participants.

There is no theater rehearsal for Show A dancers. These dancers will arrive early in costume on recital day to walk on stage and familiarize themselves with the theater.

This will be a leotard rehearsal rather than a full costume rehearsal. Dancers should wear fitted dance attire and bring the shoes needed for their routines. This allows us to focus on stage spacing, transitions, and backstage flow while avoiding the risk of misplaced costume pieces the day before the performance.

Dress rehearsal is an important opportunity to:

·       Practice stage spacing, timing, and transitions

·       Familiarize dancers with stage entrances and exits

·       Organize backstage flow with staff and volunteers

·        Help dancers feel confident and prepared for recital day

Friday May 29th at Sandler Center

Performer Check-In

- All dancers will enter through the Performer Entrance located on Commerce Street, directly across from the Westin Hotel lobby.

- Parents should drop dancers off at the performer entrance, then proceed to the main theater lobby if they wish to watch rehearsal from the auditorium.

- Parents are also welcome to leave the theater during rehearsal to enjoy Town Center restaurants, shops, or dinner nearby, returning at the estimated pick-up time for their dancer’s rehearsal block.

       - Dancers will be supervised backstage by staff and volunteers throughout rehearsal.

      - Recital merchandise and pre-ordered keepsake items will also be available for pick-up or purchase during dress rehearsal.

All recital volunteers are required to attend dress rehearsal to familiarize themselves with the backstage process and performance flow before recital day.

Rehearsal Blocks

Rehearsal will run in three blocks, organized by class level. Each group will rehearse in show order and may be called back for additional spacing or corrections as needed.

For this reason, dancers will not be released until the end of their assigned rehearsal block, even if their routine has already run.

Important: If a dancer is enrolled in classes that appear in multiple rehearsal blocks, they should arrive at the earliest block listed and remain at the theater until their final routine has rehearsed.

What to Wear to Theater Rehearsal

Dancers should arrive wearing:

- Fitted dance attire (leotard with tights, or fitted dancewear such as leggings, biker shorts, or dance shorts)

- All performance shoes needed for their routines

- Hair secured in a bun or ponytail

Costumes should not be brought to the theater for rehearsal.

Rehearsal Pick-Up Procedure

At the end of each rehearsal block, dancers will be released through the Miller Studio, located inside the theater lobby.

Parents and guardians should report to the front door of the Miller Studio for check-out. A staff member will verify and check off each dancer before allowing parents to enter the studio to collect their student.

After picking up your dancer, families should exit the building through the Performer Entrance on the Commerce Street side of the theater.

Please note that dancers will only be released at the end of their assigned rehearsal block, even if they have already completed their routines.

This pick-up procedure applies only to Dress Rehearsal. On recital day, dancer check-out will occur from the stage following the performance.
